Rawlins County Hospital began as an idea that originated in the Atwood Rotary Club through the untiring efforts of Dr. C.E. Henneberger M.D. On May 7, 1950 more than 3000 people braved the chilly, wet winds to attend the hospital's dedication ceremony. Through the years several key services were enhanced or added to assure top of the line healthcare. Rawlins County Hospital adopted the new name of Rawlins County Health Center to reflect partnership between the hospital, clinic and Prairie Plaza Retirement Community in September of 1997. Today, we continue to strive for the best possible healthcare customized to benefit our aging population as well as the younger generations to come.

Our community of Atwood is located in the limitless prairie of Northwest Kansas. It is nestled in the heart of the picturesque Beaver Valley and is surrounded by the natural beauty of golden wheat fields, lush green farms and ranches. The city of Atwood was born in 1875. It boasts a friendly atmosphere, and a hard work ethic. To learn more about our community, please visit: atwoodkansas.com
