Brian Holmgren was born and raised in Saint James, Minnesota, with a population of 4,500. He attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, and graduated with a degree in Exercise Physiology and Chemistry. After graduation, he was accepted into an internship program at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York.

Post internship, he decided to pursue his other passion for EMS and moved to Denver, Colorado to attend paramedic school at Denver Health Medical Center. As a paramedic, he worked in the 911 system for 6 years for two major Level 1 Trauma Centers in the country, including Denver Paramedics and Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Using paramedicine as a stepping stone, he then decided to pursue his current career as a Physician Assistant. He attended Red Rocks Community College in Denver and obtained his Medical Masters at St Francis University in Loretto, Ohio. He was elected student vice president for the graduating class of 2012. Brian has spent the last 8 years working in the emergency department at St. Anthony’s Hospital, one of the Level 1 Trauma Centers in Denver. He was recently selected as the 2019 physician assistant of the year. Outside of work, he spends most of his time traveling, mountain biking/camping, and skiing.
