Our 24-Hour Emergency Room at Rawlins County Health Center provides Atwood and the surrounding communities with timely, high-quality emergency medical care when it matters most. Whether you are experiencing a sudden illness, serious injury, or other medical emergency that threatens life, limb, or body function, our team is here to provide immediate care—24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 

 As a Level IV Trauma Center, Rawlins County Health Center is equipped to evaluate, stabilize, and treat patients experiencing a wide range of medical emergencies. Through Avel eCARE, our emergency care team also has access to additional specialized clinical support when needed, helping us provide advanced care close to home. 

 For patients requiring a higher level of care, our on-site helipad provides access to air medical transport, allowing for rapid transfer to specialized facilities when necessary.

WHEN TO GO TO THE ER:

According to the American College of Emergency Physicians, you should call 911 or visit the ER immediately if you exhibit the following symptoms or warning signs: 

• Sudden/severe pain 
• Severe allergic reaction 
• Chest pain/chest pressure 
• Coughing/vomiting blood 
• Difficulty breathing/shortness of breath 
• Sudden dizziness, weakness, or vision problems

• Uncontrolled bleeding 
• Changes in mental status, such as confusion 
• Severe/persistent diarrhea or vomiting 
• Severe bone breaks/fractures 
• Eye injuries 
• Cuts requiring stitches
